Asymptotic Palm likelihood theory for stationary point processes
In the present paper, we propose a Palm likelihood approach as a general estimating principle for stationary point processes in Rd for which the density of the second-order factorial moment measure is available in closed form or in an integral representation. Examples of such point processes include the Neyman–Scott processes and the log Gaussian Cox processes. The computations involved in dete...
متن کاملEstimating the Asymptotic Variance with Batch Means
We show that there is no batch-means estimation procedure for consistently estimating the asymptotic variance when the number of batches is held fixed as the run length increases. This result suggests that the number of batches should increase as the run length increases for sequential stopping rules based on batch means.
متن کاملAsymptotic theory for stationary processes
In the study of random processes, dependence is the rule rather than the exception. To facilitate the related statistical analysis, it is necessary to quantify the dependence between observations. In the talk I will briefly review the history of this fundamental problem. By interpreting random processes as physical systems, I will introduce physical and predictive dependence coefficients that q...
متن کاملEstimating deformations of stationary processes
This paper studies classes of nonstationary processes, such as warped processes and frequency-modulated processes, that result from the deformation of stationary processes. Estimating deformations can often provide important information about an underlying physical phenomenon. A computational harmonic analysis viewpoint shows that the deformed autocovariance satisfies a transport equation at sm...
متن کاملAsymptotic Inference of Autocovariances of Stationary Processes
Abstract: The paper presents a systematic theory for asymptotic inference of autocovariances of stationary processes. We consider nonparametric tests for serial correlations based on the maximum (or L∞) and the quadratic (or L2) deviations. For these two cases, with proper centering and rescaling, the asymptotic distributions of the deviations are Gumbel and Gaussian, respectively. To establish...
